Work includes new bluestone paving, handrails, and replacement of wood columns and trim. The handrail is a ¼" x 1½" steel bar welded into a continuous ribbon, with ½" vertical legs providing support. A ½" x 1½" cedar cap is placed on the gripping surface for comfort during extreme heat or cold. End grain of the wood is captured by a projecting segment of the vertical leg. A slotted steel disk conceals the point of attachment to the stone.
